Is my friend right about this?

Question by Lauren: Is my friend right about this?
Is my friend right about dogs? We got in a fight about our dogs, and now I’m starting to think she is right. Here was the conversation.

Leah: is hannah and indoor or outdoor dog?

Me: “outdoor dog”?

Leah: A outdoor dog spends its whole day outside or most of it like my dog but usually on like a 15 ft long leash tied to something

Me: OMG that’s awful

Leah: Indoor dogs go for walks
She seems to enjoy it
She hates being inside
And we let her run

Me: That’s sad
Doggies are pack animals
That need to be around people
Or they get nervous or aggressive round people and hate being round people

Leah: We take her for walks
And sometimes she sits in my dads study with my dad
Are u accusing me of being a bad owner? Shes inside for the evening

Me: Ugh

Leah: Well my dogs not like that so…
She was already nervous and shes nervous around strangers
But not US
hell she remembered us! After four months!

Me: Well her being isolated alone outside makes her nervousness worse an definitely doesn’t help it

Leah: Well it sounds like ur accusing me of mistreating my dog

Me: Well.

Leah: She LIKES it outside
She begs to go out!

Me: Yes but it’s not good for her to be outside all alone!
She is doing what she’s comfortable with
Which is being alone outside
And not healthy for dogs
Ugh nevermind

So she acts like she knows everything about dogs, but she like leaves her dog outside, and she says I’m a bad owner because I don’t let Hannah outside all the time and she says I spoil my dog because I raw feed her, and now I’m starting to think that she’s right. Should I leave my dog outside all day? She seems really happy outside, and now I don’t know what to do.

Question by dtownoc214: trying to decide what kind of dog to get. right now it’s either a doberman, rottweiler or great dane.?
i want a smart dog that’s smart and playfull, but also protective. but not too violent. i’ll be starting a family in the next yr. or so, and i want a dog my kids can play with, without the fear of them bitting their faces off. i know alot of this has to do with the way the dog is trained, but certain breeds, do have certain characteristics. the wife wants a rottweiler. i’m not that knowledgeable about different breeds. i just like the way, the top 3 look. i’m not gonna be the guy walking a shih-tzu. does anybody know where i can find the characteristics or traits/tendencies of different breeds? anybody with good/bad experiences with any of the 3 i mentioned? i want a smart, tough dog. i know of people who trained “guard dogs”, but they got stolen. and i know people who’ve had “companion” dogs, and they attack anything that moves. any suggestions

whoa, that irish wolfhound looks like a horse. http://www.flickr.com/photos/maoman/25648949/
i want a dog kind of like me. i’m a laid back easy going person. i can be spontaneous and playful, but consistent and mellow. i don’t lose my temper, until it’s time to. and even then, a look or growl, can do alot more than a bite. i want a dog thats smart enough to know that.
i’ve been debating between newborn vs. mutt. you do have to be very careful with breeders. and there is something beautiful about taking in a mutt. there are concerns with that also though

GOLDEN RETRIEVER!

A golden retriever is perfect for the situation your describing. They are very playful and very very very smart and friendly and cuddly. Also, they are very protective. Not violent at all. Golden retrievers are the perfect companion. Rottweiler aren’t that great. I would fear of it biting or being mean or turning on the owner. Where as the other two you named, I dont know much about.

But I believe that a golden retriever is perfect for what your desrcibing. They really are beautiful dogs.

German shephards are nice too.

actually, i take that back. my friend has a doberman and they are very hyper and they jump around way too much.

to the person below me, instead of arguing & being immature, why dont you answer the guys question? and yes, i would be scared of it turning on its owner. When i was little, my cousin had one & then she adopted a child & the rott bit the childs leg & was growling & snapping at my cousin. Maybe she didn’t train the dog good enough, i dont know. But i do know from that experience that they can be mean.

one more thing & i swear ill quit posting, lol.

heres a link about rotts.

I get threats but It’s my dog right?

Question by : I get threats but It’s my dog right?
I treat my dog like people should treat their children. When he barks I hit him with something, usually the cane I have to walk around with ( I have one foot substantially smaller than the other) and If he cries too much he misses dinner. It’s how they learn to obey. He pee’s on the corners on my house so I had to start shocking him with my brothers cattle prod. and all i get is grief from my animal loving neighbors.

People think their pets should be treated like royalty. It infuriates me when i see people walking their dogs everyday. Their just spoiling them and making the dogs think they’re in control. Giving them special treats and food and giving them coats for when its cold outside. Dogs have fur they don’t need jackets no matter how cold it is!

My stupid Oriental neighbor always yells at me when I’m tying my dog to the fence. She tells me that a 5 foot rope is too small and he has no room to roam around. No it isn’t! its my yard and he gets to “roam” where i allow him too. She had the audacity to threaten to call animal control on me because “he was too skinny and was terrified of me” God said in the bible that a man is allowed to control his animal however he wants. I don’t know what her fat budda god or that 4 armed lady has to say about animals but Its wrong and stupid. I know MY god is the one that knows what he is talking about. I should be able to do whatever i want with him because he’s mine.

There’s too many people in America that love their animals too much and its sickening. Maybe if they loved their animals less we wouldn’t be in so much debt.

I need to know if they’re are any true American animal owners here too and how they think we should help these people understand
