Question by Sarah: “My dog got loose and jumped on a guys car leaving scratch marks. how to make it right?
“My dog got loose and jumped on a guys car making two or three scratch marks. They are not deep at all and it is hard to see them. Nevertheless, I have never met this person before this, I have never been in this position before. I acknowledge my fault in the dog being loose, but am having trouble communicating with the truck owner to figure out the next step. When this happened, I was visiting my fiancee in his condo in another city from where our home is. We are both full time students and don’t have home-owners insurance. I have read that since my car is not involved, my car insurance has nothing to do with it, and without home insurance….I’m not really sure where the money is going to come from. I understand I am the responsible party, but want to be sure I understand what I have the right to ask, say, or do. The owner was very vocal about this being a new 50,000 dollar truck (which has a large dent in one side from a previous accident) and made sure to tell me “I don’t know if you can tell, but my wife is 5 1/2 months pregnant, and if he would have jumped on her, I would have killed him”…..I’m very young and intimidated by these people and don’t know what to do. Can I ask him to get different estimates for fixing it? Is it smart for me to pay out of pocket? I’m so worried I have no idea what to do
Also, my fiancee is living in a condo rented by the hospital where he is doing a short rotation. (the man whos truck was involved, so happens to be the owner of the place). He has never signed anything for rental agreement etc, and all of it is through the hospital. Would they have insurance covering renters from this sort of thing?

I think if you don’t make a big deal about it, he really won’t. Just go to an autoparts store and buy some scratch remover wax and go and remove it. It will take you like one hour tops to do this and just go ahead and wax the rest of his truck for the trouble.you’ll spend like the most for the wax and some cloth towels and just go knock on his door and show him what you have and say “I’m here to try and take care of those scratches for you sir If you let me^ try with this really good scratch remover and wax” I’m sure he’ll be like “ok” besides I think it’s the least of his worries seeing he has a baby on the way so don’t make a big deal about it and just try to take care of it. Take your fiance to help you with it. Your a chick, guys are more patient with you. Hope this helps^_^
