Dogs 101 – Part 41 – How To Keep Your Dog Hale & Healthy?

Many years back, we labeled a collection of behaviors we used to see in our obedience classes as single-dog syndrome. These dogs would run away from their owners more often than those dogs living in multidog homes.

They’d growl around their food bowls, be fussy eaters, be possessive about toys, and be much more uncontrolled than dogs living in houses with other dogs.

Good company means not just that you act as a companion to your dog but also that your dog shares the company of other dogs as often as possible.

Some probabilities include taking regular walks in parks where he’ll meet other dogs, joining a dog club where dog activities are offered, or putting your little dog into daycare a few days each week.

Dogs are pack animals and flourish in the company of other dogs. Socialization of your pet is a continuing process. Keeping Tommy in sound health is not so straightforward as it was fifty years back.

It appears that with the advance of science in so many dog-related fields, dogs should be more fit than before. This is not the case. Too frequently thru poor breeding practices, poor nourishment, and overvaccination, a dog’s health has been threatened more than ever before.

Having a dog which has repeated health issues – from minor conditions, like skin irritations, picking up fleas, smelling, ear diseases, and so on, to more major conditions that can affect his interior organs ,eg kidneys, the heart, liver, and thyroid, is no fun!

Not feeling well may cause your dog many behavior issues, from aggression to fearfulness, and health-related conditions are sometimes confused with behavior issues.

Tommy may have eaten something that upset his stomach, causing a house-soiling accident. He might have a musculoskeletal disorder making changes of position agonizing and causing bad temper and often snapping.

These concerns are not amenable to training solutions, and actually not to discipline. Good nourishment : you are what you eat similarly is applicable to dogs as it does to folks.

Correctly feeding your dog makes the difference between illness and health and has a serious impact on his behavior. And with the selection of dog foods on the market, working out what’s best for your pet can be hard.

There are many methods to properly feed your dog. One way is to choose a commercial tripe which has 2 animal proteins in the 1st 3 ingredients.

You are able to add some fresh, uncooked foods to the tripe. An alternate way is to get a dehydrated version of a natural diet dog food, to which you add some yogurt and beef.

A 3rd way is to make your own dog food. Your decision is dependent upon your level of comfort and the time you’ve got to give to your dog.

Good coaching : Behaviour issues don’t arise because your dog is irascible or spiteful, and discipline isn’t the solution. . Psychological stagnation may also be a reason for undesired behavior.

Training your dog on a consistent basis, or having him doing something for you, makes your dog feel handy and supplies the psychological stimulation he wishes use your mind to get your dog to help around the house, and you can be confounded by how handy he will become.
