“Potty Training” an Outside dog?

Question by Jim: “Potty Training” an Outside dog?
I have two Male Bull Terriers, they just got home yesterday ad they have been doing very well. They are eight week old brothers. They are really healthy, really active and playful. I check on them every half hour or so and everything is going great.

One of the things I would like to try and get started on at this early age is Potty Training. Now, they live outside, there is a grassed area and two floored areas where they are to roam. Any suggestions on Potty Training two puppies outside? I think it is going to be a little more difficult to achieve than regular housebreaking?

I was hoping to getting them to do on newspaper, it’s easier to clean up that way.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! =)

When I first started my cartoons, I was thinking of dogs. It was going to be a totally dog cartoon. but the more dog cartoons I created, the more I wanted to do cats, and relationships, and people, and science, ad nauseum. Oddly enough, after I opened my gift and collectible store, and tarted getting more and more emails from poodle owners and lovers wanting to know if I could kindly put up more poodle-oriented merchandise I finally did, but first, I felt compelled to learn the history of the poodle. Though I’d owned dogs all my life, and my first cousin owns and loves her standard poodle, I knew very little about the breed. I was surprised at what I learned.

Nobody really knows the origin of the poodle though we do know it was in Germany, not France. The Germans called them, and still do, pudles, which means to “splash in water”. Poodles were bred to be hunting dogs and remain proficient hunters, though most Americans prefer other breeds for this sport. The poodle was first standardized as a breed in France, hence the French poodle. Later came the regular poodle and even much later the miniature and toy breeds. The AKC began registering poodles in 1886.

Until this day, in France, Poodles are used for everything from truffle hunting to entertaining the royal court, not to mention duck hunting.

The UK received the poodle in 1874. For 36 years they were all shown together and in 1910, changes were made to the way they were shown; put in different classes according to size and appearance.

The foundations that were developed in England became the cornerstones of the breed in the United States. Precisely when the Poodle was imported to the United States is not known. The American Kennel Club registered its first Poodle in 1886. The Poodle Club of America was originally founded in 1896. Shortly after its establishment it was disbanded, and then reorganized in 1931.

The P.C.A. used the Standard and Rules of the Burley Poodle Club of England as its base for establishing the Standard in the U.S. The same Standard now applies to all three sizes of Poodle, the only difference is in the height measurements for each size. The Standard and Miniature Poodle are shown in the Non Sporting Group of the A.K.C., and the Toy Poodle is shown in the Toy Group. The F.C.I. (Federation Cynologique Internationale) recognizes four sizes: the Standard, Miniature, Dwarf and Toy.

Dog Breeds: Hybrid Dogs, Mutts and Purebred Dogs

What’s in a breed? That’s the controversial question that has plagued the dog world ever since dog breed development! Adopt puppies when they are seven weeks old

Dog is man’s best friend and probably this is the reason why people adopt puppies. There is another interesting reason associated with adopting dogs. This animal has medicinal powers. Believe it or not but puppies reduce stress and tension and make the environment happy. They are rightly called living toys. Many people bring home a puppy but not all of them know the right age of adopting a puppy.

Owning a dog or cat is, for many people an important part of their life. It is also said that animals always remain loyal to their owners. This is among the many reasons why dog and cat ownership is increasing over time.

Dogs and cats remain the most popular pets for most people. Both have their own unique characteristics. Each has their own needs and should be treated accordingly. One of the most important parts of animal care is their diet.

Most pet owners think that the best food is always the most expensive and thus a premium dog food or premium cat food when considering price alone. While some of the better food is also expensive in comparison to supermarket brands, this is not always the case. It is important that dog or cat owners have a good knowledge about the brands and formulas available which are optimal for both their pet and budget.

It may be difficult for even the most highly informed pet owner to make the right decisions. To avoid mistakes when choosing a premium dog food or premium cat food it is best to do business with a merchant who is responsible committed to customer service. Sometimes the search is difficult,  but not impossible!

Your best results will be obtained dealing with a pet shop which has an excellent track record of customer service and satisfaction. A shop which offers nothing less than the best quality dog and cat food. For this,  you can trust a proven name i.e. Washington Pet.

There are many reasons this name is recommended for premium cat food.  Some of the reasons are stated below.

a)      One stop shop for pet lovers:  It is a shop meant for all pet lovers. The services and products offered by this shop are not confined to premium dog food but here one can find all the essential products and accessories related to all kinds of animals.

b)      Preferred products:  this is one of the things which are not easy to find at other shops. For premium dog food you can choose from best brands like Blue Buffalo, Evo, California Natural, Healthwise, Innova, Fromm, Eagle holistic, etc. For premium cat food you can select from the same brands. Most are available in both dry and canned form.

c)      Easy to shop: it is a site which is highly supportive to the user. It doesn’t matter whether you are searching for premium cat food or anything else. With Washingtonpet you can navigate and shop with ease.

Thinking Of Feeding Your Ferret Cat Food? We Say, Go For It!

The science of ferret nutrition is similar to a cat’s diet needs. Finding quality ferret food is certainly recommended, though not strictly necessary. If you are unable to find good ferret food, grab a bag of premium cat food from your local pet store; choose a kitten food that is high in protein if your ferret is less than 4 years old, but switch to an adult cat food as your ferret gets older.

The First Step To Training Your Dog- Dog Training Advice

Hey Allan Codling here,

When we get our dogs we often look for dog training advice but often in the wrong places. The primary focus that we need to have is on dog obedience training as it is a crucial aspect for dog owners. Dog obedience training methods are the basis for a getting your dog to be well behaved, responsive. With these methods your dog will be able to live in your home with your family, friends and other dogs comfortably.

A lot of dog owners want to just potty train their dogs and forget about the obedience factor. What they do not realize is it is much more difficult to get your dog potty trained without the regular practice of obedience training. It makes it even more difficult to correct behavior problems like chewing, biting, jumping and aggression. It all starts with dog obedience training.

Dogs have what is called a pack mentality which means that they need a leader. It is your responsibility as the owner to build the relationship between you and your dog and get your dog to see you as the leader. Now many people either take this piece of dog training advice to lightly and spoil the dog and let it do whatever it wants and many take it to far and are way to militant with the dog and offer no real affection. Both of these habits are ill-advised. What you need to do is love your dog and shower him with affection, but always maintain your leader role in the relationship and the dog will become accustomed to this and recognize it quickly(dogs are smart, they know whats going on ;) .

So this obedience training is very crucial to getting your dog to be obedient, well behaved and completely trained. This will make it a pleasant experience to have company, go out with your dog and leave it at home knowing full well that he/she will behave and listen to you.

You can get all the dog training advice in the world. However a lot of times you just get steps and methods to follow with out knowing why you need to follow them and how it affects your dog. It is extremely helpful to look at the dog’s point of view. How does he/she feel when you do instruct it to do something. How the dog responds to your moods, tone, commands and why. Having this understanding will make for a better training experience for you and your puppy.

Dog aggression is a pretty serious problem. Obedience training helps to eliminate this aggression in dogs before it even starts to develop. This is very important because once your puppy shows aggressions and it is not properly addressed, this aggression can develop to be even more of a problem as the pup matures. So you want to start obedience training right at the start. If your dog is already mature and aggressive obedience training will still be effective however it will take more time and effort to calm this aggression.

Proper dog training gives you peace of mind knowing that even though your not around your dog is well-behaved. It also gives you the confidence in knowing that your dog is well trained and will be calm and docile around people and other dogs.

How this Dog Training Advice Is Applied:

- Use positive reinforcement as the basis of all your training

- Don’t use negative reinforcement

- Always address bad behavior

- Never correct him if he hasn’t done anything wrong at that exact moment. This is crucial.

- Be consistent

- Always use repetition – Training sessions should be short. 15-30 minutes

- It is much better for you to be the one training your dog. You live with the dog and when you train him he learns to understand that you are the leader and “you” are to be obeyed.

So in short, dog obedience is a significant aspect of raising your pup. It is the first step to get your dog to understand and comply to the rules that you set forth in the house and in public. Please follow this dog training advice. Hope all goes well. Say hi to the dog for me!
